Kearsarge Workcamp 2012

The Kearsarge Workcamp 2012 is over, but this is what it was all about for those of you who may have missed it.

Workcamps are organized by Group Cares, a non-profit interdenominational Christian organization that helps challenge students to use their time and energy to make a real difference in their communities and around the world.  At the Kearsarge workcamp, over 400 students and adult leaders from around the country came and worked for a week on home-repair projects for those who who are unable to complete the projects themselves, all at no cost to the homeowner.  A total of 53 families received home repairs.  Locally, as we had done in 2002, 2006, and 2009, we partnered with Casey Family Services as a co-sponsor for the workcamp.   Working throughout the region, crews:

  • Painted
  • Weatherized
  • Built wheelchair ramps
  • Built / repaired decks /stairs
  • Repaired drywall
  • Repaired minor roof damage

A big "Thank you!" to all those of you who helped make it possible!
