The ministry of CCCD endeavors to:
1. Reach the deaf of Jamaica with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. Assist and empower the deaf to become Christ-centered, independent,
self-supporting citizens
3. Provide schools where the deaf may acquire a quality education in
order to receive the gospel and share it with others.

Under the auspices of Cape Cod Covenant Church (member of the East Coast Conference, The Evangelical Covenant Church), Anita and her daughter will be participating in mission activities in Coelemu, Chile. The Iglesia del Pacto Evangelico where the group will be serving may be viewed here.
TBC is collecting simple Christian children's books for this mission. These books need not be in Spanish, as they will be used for Conversational English classes with the children. Donated books may be placed in the box located in the foyer at the church for this purpose. This is the first time that the church has had missionaries visit .... they are a new church plant and are very excited.
More detailed information and prayer requests from Anita:
We will be working for one week in Coelemu, Chile with Pastor Darwin Salgado and his wife.
They are trying to get a Covenant Church started in Coelemu. They have land but the building
of the church has not yet begun. Some of our missions team will be working on the church
foundation. The rest of us will be serving as an outreach team to the community. We will be
spending time with the teens organizing basketball tournaments and helping them with their
English. With the women of the community, we will be participating in some cooking and sewing
projects. Please pray that this time with the teens and the women of the community will give
us some opportunities to share our testimonies and to also share the love of Jesus.
Assisting the ministries of Patricia Appleby , (founder of Women of the Well International Ministries, Inc.) and Dr. Bob Dayton, (Assistant Central American Director for Baptist International Missions, Inc.), Cassie worked with a seasoned team ministering at a conference for the wives of national pastors and missionaries in Nicaragua.
The ministry team to Nicaragua provided gift bags for conference attendees, and our Missions Leadership Team led our church family to support this endeavor in a tangible way by providing 200 adult toothbrushes and 200 tubes of toothpaste.
He answered this prayer request in with a mighty outpouring of His Spirit in the lives of all of us. God's glory was evident in the lives of the 153 ladies that we taught, encouraged, equipped, and prayed with. Some of these women attending this conference traveled over 18 hours on a school bus to come and participate. According to Dr. Bob Dayton, veteran missionary of 47 years in Nicaragua, this women's conference is the biggest event in the lives of these Nicaraguan women.
As always, you come away with the feeling that you received far more than you were possibly able to give. These women have very little of this world's "goods." But, they have true riches in abundance that come from their great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
This trip has reinforced for me the desire I have to be working with the Lord and being engaged in those things that have eternal value. Jesus said, " I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." Help me Lord Jesus, I pray.
We ministered under the direction of Patti Appleby, who is founder of Women of the Well International Ministries, Inc., and with Dr. Bob Dayton, Assistant Central American Director for Baptist International Missions, Inc.
Anna was engaged for six months (February through July 2007) as a teacher for the children of a missionary family in Zambia. During this time, Anna posted to her blog as frequently as possible. (Be sure to read the 21 January 2007 entry concerning an encounter with a warthog!)
... Mercy Ships is a global charity that has several hospital ships. They have traveled to developing nations since 1978. Their vision is to "become the face of love in action, bringing hope and healing to the world's poor." The values they hold are the desire to follow the example of Jesus to "1. Love God, 2. Love and serve others, 3. Be people of integrity, 4. Be people of excellence in all we say and do."
... "I believe the ship I will be on, the Anastasis, has at least six operating rooms. They perform surgeries for tumor removals, cleft lip and palates, cataracts and crossed-eyes, fistula operations, orthopedic, and facial reconstructions. ... "I will be working as an operating room nurse with them in Tema, Ghana (on the west coast of Africa) and living on board ship during my service with them for two weeks, December 9th through the 23rd.
... Thank you ... for your support ... and your prayers -- I am excited but also nervous. This will certainly take me out of my comfort zone. This has been something I have been interested in doing for years ... I feel that God has led me to do this now. It is exciting to see how God will use me and to see how the path that He has led me down with my life and career experiences will be used to help. (Evie)
