Salzman Sayings
September 2006
Small Feather

Dear Friends,

I trust this letter finds you well and walking with the Lord. In our recent newsletters we mentioned the need to move out of our current housing. We wanted to update you on the situation.

When we were newly married and didn't have the funds to afford housing we asked Life Action if we could temporarily stay in the house that we are now in. As they didn't have another need for it then they graciously allowed us to stay. But, what started out as only temporary has extended into almost two years.

Almost a year ago we were asked to move as they now have another need for our house. Because of our financial situation Life Action has been extremely gracious to us and has not forced us to move yet. However, the fact remains that we need to move as quickly as possible.

We recently sat down and looked at our budget to figure out how much we could afford each month for housing on our current income. The results were not very encouraging considering the local prices for a house that would meet our needs.

The rental market is very expensive and availability is quite scarce, so we have virtually eliminated that as an option (although we are still open to it if there were any viable options available).

The housing market is a little better, but we have found that houses we could "afford" with only a little more monthly income will need considerable work to fix up. (We have already looked at over a dozen houses, driven by scores more, and scoured hundreds of listings.)

In light of that we need a couple of things. One, we need additional monthly support regardless of how inexpensive the house we purchase is. We really don't quite have enough to cover a mortgage, taxes, utilities, and maintenance yet.

Second, we need one-time gifts for a down payment (to make our monthly payments affordable) and for the inevitable major repairs that would be needed on the type of house we can afford. If God provided an extraordinary large amount of one-time gifts we could possible afford a house that needed little or no work.

Would you pray about whether or not God would have you give toward our housing need?   If you are able to give please reply to this message and we can send you a response card if you include your mailing address.  Otherwise you may simply send your gift to the address at the end of this message.

At this time, because of some process changes with our new accounting system, one-time gifts will need to be send directly to us (checks made out to Scott and Andrea Salzman) and will not be tax-deductible.  Monthly support sent through Life Action (check made out to Life Action Ministries) is still tax-deductible, but would need to be on a separate check from any one-time gifts.

Thank you for your gift, prayers and love. We are blessed to call you friend.

Because of Him,
     Scott & Andrea
